Compared with consumer cards, AMD FirePro professional graphics have a much more comprehensive support cover. With a dedicated support line and a team of AMD technical engineers, you will have help with issues from driver updates to writing new pieces of code for bespoke developers.

 

Reliable hardware with advanced technologies and extensive testing

Tested by AMD for maximum reliability, AMD FirePro Professional graphics support some of the latest technologies compared to consumer graphics cards. A good example is the adoption of PCI Express® 3.0 allowing for uncompressed video output and data transfer.

 

Tuned, Optimised, and Certified for Engineering and design 3D applications

AMD FirePro Professional graphics cards and drivers are optimised and certified by most major ISV vendors, such as Dassault Systemes. Without ISV certifications, much of the applications features and performance will be limited and reduced. AMD and its ISV partners are involved with extensive development to provide a reliable and certified platform for engineering and design professionals.

 

Optimised for simulation (CAE)

AMD FirePro W-Series can be used to accelerate Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) calculations, such as those used in Finite Element Analysis (FEA). These compute intensive processes are traditionally carried out by CPUs but the rise of the cross platform OpenCL API means they can now be executed across different types of multi core processors.

The AMD FirePro W-Series has been specifically architected to execute CAE calculations in parallel with graphics operations. The AMD FirePro W8000 and AMD FirePro W9000 in particular, are ideally suited to CAE due to their large amounts of ECC memory and excellent double precision performance. Abaqus from DS Simulia is one of the first major CAE tools to benefit from AMD FirePro GPUs. There are many others in development, expected to arrive in 2013.
